Status: Design Development
Type: Master Plan
The power of space to redefine how people feel, behave, and move is indisputable. Bogota’s civic area, which is currently underutilized, is primed for a revitalization that challenges the norms of the cities movement and living practices. The master plan for expanding Bogota’s largest exhibition hall, Corferias, aims at increasing accessibility and transforming this crucial civic area into the city’s next lifestyle district.
To improve the district’s connectivity, all of the structures have bridges and walkways that link the center’s various buildings to one another as well as to surrounding public transportation hubs. The design includes a 200-room hotel for onsite lodging of convention center visitors and exhibitors, a 15-story office building for the water company Acueducto overlooking Avenida de las Americas and Corferias, and a large market that energizes the street edge at the ground level. The master plan’s dynamic nature promotes curiosity and engagement from various walks of life as the city takes its steps into the future.
